Existing Conditions

The existing street is showing signs of failure of both the surface and subgrade through alligator cracking, longitudinal cracks, delamination, and potholes.

Summary of Improvements

  • The project will improve motorist access through the project area. Mullis Street connects to Cattle Point Road which Federal Functional Classification is Rural Major Collector. Cattle Point Road provides access to the southeast portion of San Juan Island and San Juan Island National Park. By reconstructing the street, the Town will be able to provide safe and efficient access to commercial, residential, and the San Juan Island National Park.

Description of Improvements

The proposed improvements include full depth reclamation of the road from existing edge of pavement to existing edge of pavement. The cross section will be constructed with a crown to direct runoff to existing storm water facilities / existing shoulders. Existing curb and gutter will be preserved. Pavement markings will be replaced in its current configuration, with two 11-foot travel lanes and intermittent parking/shoulders.
