Existing Conditions

The Citys 2019 Puyallup Safe Routes to School Plan (SRTS) identifies 7th Ave. SW Sidewalks as a priority project and indicates a gap in the pedestrian pathway on the north side of 7th Ave. SW. During the public outreach process, the community identified a strong need for improved accessibility at intersections and along the sidewalk. This pedestrian facility is a walking route for many as it is within walking distance of Maplewood Elementary, Puyallup High School, Meeker Elementary, Puyallup School District Sparks Stadium and All Saints School. Additionally, this corridor is a route to the Washington State Fairgrounds which significantly adds vehicle and pedestrian traffic at various times during the year as well as events occurring at Sparks Stadium making this project significantly important to the safety and accessibility of both children and adults.
