Description of Improvements

Install an 8 to 10 wide pedestrian and bicycle path along the north side of SR 20 and along north side of Brickyard Creek where the creek parallels SR 20. Completely separating the non-motorized traffic will improve safety and capacity for SR 20 in this vicinity. While no bicycle or pedestrian collisions were recorded in this route segment for the past three years, this segment has a high accident rate 39 vehicles involved in 21 accidents with 5 injuries due to the 50 mph two-lane configuration, with driveways and roads entering the route in close proximity to Brickyard Creek. Brickyard Creek parallels SR 20 and is located immediately off the north shoulder of the roadway for much of the distance of Phase 2A.
