Project Description

The project establishes continuous ADA accessibility and new sidewalks from the west city limits to the central business district. The existing sidewalks on the south side of Railroad Ave., between 8th and 12th Streets, will be removed and replaced with new 8-foot sidewalks and ADA compliant curb ramps will be installed at each intersection. On the north side of Railroad Ave. between 10th and 12th St. new 8-foot sidewalks will be installed. The new sidewalks will be raised 6-inches above existing grade to promote stormwater runoff as well as prevent vehicles from parking on the sidewalk and obstructing sidewalk access. The crossing at the existing railroad tracks will be designed to provide an at grade pedestrian crossing. The existing sidewalk west of 12th St. will be removed, raised 6-inches above existing grade, and replaced to the city limits. All new sidewalks will be separated from the roadway by a width of at least 4-feet. New driveways will be installed to allow resident and business access. Existing roadway regulatory signs will be removed and replaced to improve pedestrian safety.
