These sidewalks are in the heart of Downtown Historic District. We are seeing an increase in pedestrian traffic through our town and these sidewalks are deteriorating and a hazard to the community. Due to the uneven path several residents have reported tripping and in some cases have had some significant falls. These sidewalks do not promote adequate access and safety to persons with limited mobility. In addition, there is a significant grade separation from the sidewalks to the adjacent businesses making it difficult to access for persons with limited mobility. Improving the sidewalk will improve safety and have a positive impact on the economic viability of the Town.

Project Description
We have had this project reviewed on on two separate occasions by our engineering firm and have determined it to be most cost effective to remove and replace these sidewalks in order to provide improved and safe access through the downtown corridor. The project will provide accessible access to adjacent buildings, provide five parallel parking stalls, and improve drainage by adding curb, gutter, and stormwater collection structures.

06/29/2022 | The city was waiting for full funding of the entire downtown sidewalk project. It has been further delayed by the city since they don't want construction in downtown between Memorial Day and Labor Day. |
