Project Description

Reconstruction of Valleyview Avenue, Third Street, and Southern Avenue to a 28-foot wide, two-lane roadways. The project will include curb and gutters, sidewalks, intersection curb ramps, storm drainage facilities, and illumination system.

Existing Condition

The Valleyview Avenue, Third Street, and Southern Avenue improvement project is proposed for the 3,300 LF section on Valleyview Avenue (1st Street to 3rd Street), South Third Street (Valleyview Avenue to Southern Avenue), and Southern Avenue (3rd Street to 1st Street). The existing roadway is only 22 feet wide for a majority of its length with very limited curb and gutter, no sidewalk, limited street lighting, and no storm drainage facilities. This route is a designated bike and walking route. School buses drop off and pick up a large amount of children at the corner of Third Street and Pleasant Avenue. With no sidewalks along the roadway, the children unsafely walk on the edge of the travel lanes.
