Main Street is the primary access to prominent city services and businesses including the fire department, post office, bank, grocery store, and city park. This dilapidated corridor is in desperate need of reconstruction. Heavy cracking, both longitudinally and laterally, extends throughout the entire roadway. Sidewalks are cracked and heaved, making foot traffic unsafe for pedestrians. Multiple intersections lack ADA-compliant curb ramps, and some are missing curb ramps altogether. Drainage piping is exposed above-grade and presents a hazard to the integrity of the Citys storm water system. The central median through Main Street is constructed of inadequate material, and shows severe signs of degradation.

Project Description
The project will make improvements which enhance business access, increase economic activity, and improve safety to pedestrians in the City. Reconstruction of Main Street will include constructing a new asphalt roadway and subbase, new sidewalks and bulb-outs, and ADA-compliant curb ramps. A new concrete median, which could serve as a refuge for pedestrians, will be constructed along with drainage and infiltration improvements, and new pavement markings.
